Welcome Christine and Emma!

We’re delighted to welcome and introduce to you our two new ‘gappers’ Christine and Emma, who have recently started on the Step into the Gap programme with St Mary’s Catholic College in Blackpool, supported by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and CAFOD.

Christine, our latest gapper

Christine comes from Birmingham.  She’s 22 and a graduate from Cardiff University with a degree in Religious Studies.  Last year she worked with the Chaplaincy Team at Liverpool Hope University, so she brings with her plenty of experience in working alongside young adults.

Emma completes the gapper team

Emma’s a local lass, from Broughton-in-Furness.  She’s 18 and has a place at Leeds University next year to study History.  She lives on a farm and can drive a tractor.  She has plenty of enthusiasm and energy, a wicked laugh and a fabulous Cumbrian accent!

The girls have hit the ground running in Blackpool, having already visited their local primary schools which they’ll be working with throughout the year. They’re getting to know the students of St Mary’s through the Chaplaincy there, and they’ve introduced themselves to the parish of St Kentigern’s in Blackpool who are kindly accommodating and supporting them.

Having had various inductions at school, from CAFOD and from the SHCJs, together we look forward to another fruitful and dynamic year with these two young ladies.  We know they have much to offer to us and they are more than willing to listen and learn.

Look out for them this year, and do hold them in thought and prayer as they start their exciting journey with us.
