Ss Mary & Michael’s Catholic Primary School in Garstang may be a small school but they’ve got big big hearts!
Over Lent each class chose a different way to raise funds for CAFOD’s work overseas. Some of the ideas were deliciously creative: Class 3 offered a pizza making/delivery service in school for snack time. Each child in school had the opportunity to buy a slice of pizza for 50p a slice – what a great idea!
Some Year 6s cycled to school in their pyjamas – and no they hadn’t woken up late, and forgotten to get dressed!
Crazy dressing was another popular idea. The children mimicked their own teacher’s clothing – oh to have seen that one, with lots of mini teachers in school that day!
A fantastic total of £761.29 was raised by all the classes. A BIG Well done!
CAFOD’s two gappers, Iona and Sarah, visited the school to thank the children for their magnificent work and to show them how their money was used. They shared some stories from their recent trip to Sierra Leone in Africa. The children listened intently, learnt lots and were then presented with a ‘Thank You’ certificate by Iona and Sarah on behalf of CAFOD.
CAFOD says a huge thank you to all of the the children, the parents and teachers at Ss Mary & Michael’s for their amazing response during Lent and for the care and kindness they showed for their whole global family – what a school!
