Did you know…?

We provide a weekly CAFOD (did you know…?) fact to many Churches in the Lancaster Diocese for their parish newsletters. If your parish would be interested in receiving this weekly email, then please contact us at CAFOD Lancaster – email: lancaster@cafod.org.uk

Did you know…..Oscar Romero was Archbishop of San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador?  He lived at a time of terrible oppression and violence and was assassinated on 24 March 1980 because his commitment to those living in poverty led him to speak out against injustice.

Next Monday, 24 March is the 34th anniversary of his assassination.  He is remembered for his courage, his faith and his love for the poor, and his teachings inpsire our work at CAFOD.

CAFOD’s head office in London is named Romero House in his honour. May the courage of Oscar Romero inspire us to work with integrity for an end to violence and poverty.

There are many more resources about Oscar Romero here

He remains an inspiration to us all.

“Aspire not to have more but to be more”
