Did you know? (57)

Did you know…Pope Francis has deliberately timed the release of his encyclical, Laudato Si’, in the hope of influencing key political moments globally?  In September, global leaders meet in New York to negotiate new sustainable development goals that will set the direction and targets for development for the next 15 years. Pope Francis will be speaking at this meeting. In December, international leaders meet in Paris to secure a global climate deal. Critical choices will be made that could impact the lives of millions of people, especially our brothers and sisters living in the poorest countries. CAFOD hopes leaders will be moved by the Pope’s message into positive action.

Our petition urges David Cameron and other world leaders to cut carbon emissions to keep global temperature rise below the dangerous threshold of 1.5°C.
