A Big Thank You

A big thank you to everyone across the diocese in parishes and schools who helped in any way to promote Harvest Fast Day.  You have been overwhelmingly generous.

Holy Family Harvest Lunch 2015

Parishes held talks at Mass to raise awareness of our work, as well as taking collections for CAFOD.  Parishes and schools also organised soup lunches and other fundraising events for which we are truly grateful.

This year many schools held “Brighten Up this Harvest” days in an effort to help CAFOD build a fairer, brighter world.

Your contributions will help the poorest communities in developing countries face the challenges caused by climate change by growing drought resistant healthy crops and using improved methods of animal husbandry. This will help ensure that they and their families have enough to eat in the coming year and beyond.

As well as supporting projects in over 30 developing countries, this year some of CAFOD’s funds will be used to help refugees fleeing the crisis in Syria.

CAFOD’s vision is ‘a world transformed to reflect the Kingdom of God’.  Besides the wonderful support you give us on Lenten and Harvest Fast Days, we invite you to continue your efforts throughout the year if possible.

There are many ways of doing this including signing CAFOD’s One Climate, One World petition: Click here:

For information about other ways of supporting CAFOD, or to tell us about activities you are holding in your Parish or school, please get in touch by email at lancaster@cafod.org.uk or give us a call on 01772 733 310.  We would be delighted to discuss your ideas or proposals about working with our world’s poorest communities.

Your are truly inspiring. Thank you for your ongoing support in taking action to fight poverty and injustice.
