The CAFOD parish group at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freckleton are organising a ‘For the Love of Workshop’ on Thursday 26 November at 7pm, ahead of the UN Summit Meeting in Paris in early December. It’s a Fylde deanery wide event to consider our response as Catholics to the ever increasing concern of the changing climate and its impact on our environment.
We have extended the invitation locally to our ecumenical friends, as it is a universal concern. It is significant that Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ is unusually addressed to all people of the world and integrates ecology with social, economic, political and spiritual dimensions. His analysis of the state of the world and the need to re-assess our priorities is insightful. He leaves us in no doubt that nations like ours, that have enjoyed unfettered access to the gifts of creation, must now take the lead in reforming our mindset and rapidly become low carbon. He calls for ecological conversion – within the framework of our faith.
We warmly invite you to come along to this event and would be grateful if you would extend the invitation to your parish community.
Thank you, in anticipation of your support.
