Campaigning with CAFOD

Did you know…last year was marked by significant progress in the climate campaign when 196 countries came together to agree the first ever global deal to reduce carbon emissions and tackle climate change? CAFOD thanks you for all you did to lobby leaders in the run-up to the talks. Your prayers, emails, personal witness and action in parishes made an enormous difference. So get ready for an exciting year of campaigning where we’ll be redoubling our efforts to make sure that countries, including our own, keep to and build on the commitments they made in Paris.

Here are two ways you can contribute now to our climate campaign, One Climate, One World:

  • Lobby your political leaders: Sign up to be an MP correspondent and we’ll send you information about important issues to contact your MP about – including climate change. Use our ready-made email template and email the Climate and Energy Secretary, asking her to champion the shift to sustainable energy for all.
  • Get active in your parish and friendship groups: Download our encyclical study guide and explore the teachings of Pope Francis on poverty and the environment. Share your thoughts with your parish, family and friends, and pray for change. Get crafty and use the skills God has given you to make green heart badges that help you share your love for our common home with the world.

We provide a weekly ‘CAFOD fact’ as a short ‘Did You Know?’ to parishes across the Lancaster Diocese, which they print in their parish newsletters. If you would be interested in receiving this weekly email, let us know at CAFOD Lancaster and we’ll send it directly to you too – email:
