In celebration of Volunteers Week (1-12th June) we’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our volunteers for their help and hard work throughout the year.
Volunteers are an integral part of CAFOD and without them we could not continue to support our global brothers and sisters living in poverty.
There are over 5,000 CAFOD volunteers across England and Wales who help us throughout the year, from reading at mass and helping in the volunteer centre to working overseas as part of our Step into the Gap program.
Between them they give up over 120,000 hours of their free time!
Our Parish groups and Parish Volunteers are at the heart of CAFOD life within England and Wales.
On 17th April 30 parishioners from St. John’s, Poulton le Fylde, Fr. John Walsh (and his trusty dog Oscar) together with a dozen or so children from St. John’s Catholic Primary School Poulton, took part in an annual, CAFOD walk. Parishes hold activities all year round in order to raise awareness of the work that CAFOD achieves.
Patrick Gardner, CAFOD representative, says: “We are so grateful to each and every one of them who helps at our volunteer centres, in their parishes, local schools or in the community; their dedication and hard work is second to none.”
